The Bamboo Hexagon Earrings
The design for these earrings was inspired by latticework designs in wood. I chose bamboo for its color and grain as well as for the fact that Bamboo is a renewable resource. The design of the earrings was based off of the original Hexagon Ring. The hexagon motif operates on three scales - the small hexagon shape, the accumulated larger hexagon shape, and the jewel at the top which is used to hang it from Silver plated ear wires (hypoallergenic). A very simple but modern design in a beautiful, natural material.
The earrings are very lightweight and comfortable to wear. The design is lasercut from 1 ply Amber Bamboo wood. After it's cut I lightly sand it and coat it with a clear varnish.
